About : NIT Rourkela is one of the 31 NITs in India. This institute was established on 15 Aug 1961, on 14th independence anniversary of India and the foundation stone was laid by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru(Former Prime Minister of India). Earlier NIT Rourkela was known as Regional Engineering College Rourkela (REC Rourkela), and has been recognized as Institute of National Importance.
